Winter. When a hand is found in a forest near Zielona Góra the initial investigation suggests that it was bitten off... by a human.

An atmosphere of unrest sweeps through the town as rumours in the media speak of a werewolf prowling the area. Soon after, detectives come across the massacred corpse of a recently missing nun – her murdered body had been torn apart by wolves. Inspector Romuald Czarnecki sets up a special team to investigate the murder, which includes Igor Brudny and Julia Zawadzka from the Warsaw Police Department. Inspector Brudny's talent and difficult past are called on once again.

The intense investigation grows more complicated by the day. Brudny must establish whether the perpetrator has any connection with the orphanage of the Hieronymus sisters, where he grew up. The hunt is just beginning.
